A Funny Look At Shopping

For those of us who love shopping, I have found a number of quotes that I've have found to be quite humorous on the topic of shopping...

*“Whoever said money can't buy happiness simply didn't know where to go shopping.” -Bo Derek

*“Carrie: Honey, if it hurts so much, why are we going shopping?

Samantha: I have a broken toe, not a broken spirit.” - Sex and the City

* "New shoes cure the blues"

Pink Trendspot

For those of us who love the color pink, including myself, TeenVogue has spotted that it's back and all grown up with a new twist with inspiration from Breakfast at Tiffany's. It personally is my favorite color ever. Celebrities have been spotting wearing pink a lot lately and I would suggest going out and purchasing some article of clothing or accessory to add that splash of color to your wardrobe. I'm not saying to go out and spend a fortune on a designer piece but there are many cute pink items available even at Target. Add that dab of girliness to your look for this winter. I guarentee it will make you feel happy to be a girl!

Twin Cities Fashion

For those of us from Minnesota, you may wonder, where can I look to find the latest trends in fashion for the twin cities, well luckily a new magazine is on the rise, it's called 360. The magazine features the latest events, art and culture, shopping, as well as entertainment and places to eat. What more could you ask for? They recently put on a fashion show titled. "Crimes of Fashion" in which styles were inspired from inside the prision themes and designed by Christopher Straub. You kind find their magazine all over the city at coffee shops, outside Barnes and Noble, anywhere there are free stands of magazines this can be found. I would highly recommend checking it out to keep updated on the latest in the city!

Fully Polished

This season the latest trend for the perfectly primped and pampered nails is dark colors. Now, we're not talking gothic looking but instead a more sophisticated twist on color.
OPI came out with a new Russian Collection in which I have found many new favorites including Russian Navy, An Affair In Red Square, and Suzy Says Da! If you don't prefer OPI, Nars Bohemia, Essie Downtown Brown, Dior Addict Brown Study, MAC, and Revlon Charmed all carry a variety of brown towns and Clinique Fuschia Kisses, Nars Chinatown, Chanel Koala, have a variety of Burgundies and Eggplants. These shades have all been inspired straight from the runway and can be paired with any type of outift. CBS news even did a piece on beauty and showing the trends from last spring through fall and winter. Some tips they discussed to pull of the dark colors is don't overload with extra accessories, be sure cuticles are moisturized, and avoid quick-dry top coats because they're more likely to chip. With the holiday season here it's time to get all glamourous and dressed up. This season it's all about the **SPARKLE**!!! Celebrities all across the nation have been seen wearing sparkly numbers to movie premieres, parties, and nightly outings. Not to mention feel free to fully take in the red and green color, everyone will love that you're super festive for the holiday season, oh and you can't go wrong with metallics. It's that time of year when you can impress everyone with that perfect dress. Explore a variety of styles from long formals, to short sequins, babydoll styled, sleeveless, shortsleeve, long sleeve, or ofcourse the classic black. Whatever your choice may be I'm sure you'll sparkle!

Online Shopping

For those of you who don't feel like facing the rush of holiday shopping at the mall, Holiday Online shopping has become a huge trend for many. Winter Coats

With winter finally here and it snowing nearly everyday it's time to whip out those hats, mittens, scarves and WINTER COATS!!! I remember to when I was a little kid and felt like a marshmellow being stuffed with snow pants, a huge puffy winter coat, hats, mittens to the point that the only thing viewable was my eyes! Obviously times have changed and dressing for the chilly weather can be quite fun. Through looking at stores and magazines I have already seen a variety of different coats out for the season including furs, plaids, colors, patterns, puffy, the list could go on! It's important to remember to find the coat that fits your shape the best and makes you truly feel good. I would highly reccommend checking out Macys, Nordstroms, JCrew, and Bloomingdales for the latest trends in winter coats. Be sure to bundle up and keep warm out there!

Malls

For those of you who are from Minnesota you know that we are home to Mall of America. One of the largest malls full of stores, an entire theme park, movie theater and aquarium! Not only do we have the Mall of America we also have a number of other great malls all within about 30-40 miles of MOA. Some of my favorites include Burnsville Center, Rosedale Center, Southdale, the Galleria, Ridgedale, and Maplewood. For those looking for a different experience I love Arbor Lakes. It's an outdoor shopping center that has all the top stores and gives you a feeling like you're not really in Minnesota but somewhere else, like California. I would highly recommend checking out these malls because they all have been known for finding some great deals!

A Look Back at the 2007 Trends

Vogue recently did an article on 2007: The Year in Fashion. Among some of the trends that were discussed included... uniquely designed shoes and sweaters, Gucci celebrated their 85th anniversary and Coach celebraed their 65th! A life-size human skull was encrusted with 8, 601 diamonds and sold for $122 million to an investment group. Extreme Fashion trends were seen this fall with huge sweaters and scarves. Winter Boots

With snow coming down like crazy it's time to whip out those winter boots to avoid slipping and sliding on the snow and getting the bottoms of your pants wet! This winter the top trends include winter boots with fluffy collars, white boots, belted winter boots and lace up boots. A personal favorite...Uggs!
They are so comfy and definitely keep your toes warm, I think they may be a necessity for Minnesotans in the winter.

For the more fashionable style and dressy look, I would recommend a classic pair of pointy heeled boots.

For those looking to be a bit more trendy the ankle boot is definitely back for another season in a variety of styles and colors. They have been seen being paired with minis, dresses, leggings, tights, and skinny jeans.

Whatever your personal style may be, be sure to go out and purchase a great pair of boots for this winter season!
